On March 17, 2025, Office of Atoms for Peace (OAP), under the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research, and Innovation (MHESI), held the Comprehensive Programme Review and Future Planning meeting in collaboration with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). The meeting, taking place from March 17-21, 2025, at Alpha Meeting Room, 4th Floor, OAP 60th Anniversary Building, aimed to review the progress of technical cooperation projects supported by IAEA and to discuss the development of new projects for 2026-2027.
Representatives from OAP, Mahidol University, Kasetsart University, Suranaree University of Technology, the Thailand Institute of Nuclear Technology, and the Department of Medical Sciences participated in the meeting.
Key topics discussed included the enhancement of neutron reactor safety, the application of nuclear technology in food and environmental quality assessment, the evaluation of plastic pollution impacts on ecosystems, and the management of radioactive waste.
Additionally, the delegation is scheduled to visit Thailand’s nuclear research and development center to assess its capabilities and exchange insights on international best practices.
OAP remains committed to strengthening cooperation with the IAEA to advance the country’s scientific and nuclear technology capabilities in line with international standards, ensuring maximum benefits for sustainable development.
