OAP, in collaboration with the World Institute for Nuclear Security (WINS), is organizing the “National Roundtable on Nuclear Security Competences and Development of a National Training Plan” from March 4 to 5, 2025. The event aims to enhance the capabilities of Thai personnel, ensuring they are well-prepared to address nuclear security threats in terms of prevention, detection, and effective response. More than 30 representatives from agencies within the national nuclear security framework, as well as the Thai regulatory body, are participating in the event at Rama Gardens Hotel, Bangkok.
One of the key outcomes of this training is the development of a national nuclear security training plan, which focuses on enabling participants to apply their acquired knowledge within their respective organizations. This includes designing security measures tailored to the specific context of each agency, managing personnel handling nuclear and radioactive materials, and integrating collaboration between government and private sector entities.
Additionally, experts from WINS (Austria) and Ubique Risk Management Limited (United Kingdom) are sharing insights on nuclear security management approaches based on standards set by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). This ensures that Thai personnel are equipped with the expertise to operate at an internationally recognized professional level.
