During the meeting, Prof. Dr. Supachai emphasized the importance of developing Thailand’s human resources to prepare for activities related to SMR technology, such as design, construction, and safety regulation. He proposed initiatives like study visits, training programs, and on-the-job training to equip Thai personnel with the necessary skills. Prof. Dr. Supachai also stressed the importance of exchanging experiences on public communication and stakeholder engagement to build understanding and acceptance of SMR technology.

In the area of research and development, Prof. Dr. Supachai requested CNNC’s support for a joint SMR research project under the Mekong-Lancang Cooperation Special Fund. The proposed project is a collaboration between the Thailand Nuclear Society, the Faculty of Engineering at Chulalongkorn University, the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand, the Thailand Institute of Nuclear Technology (Public Organization), and the Office of Atoms for Peace.

In response, Mr. Wang Xuejun stated that CNNC is pleased to support Thailand in human resource development, particularly in cultivating personnel for SMR technology deployment. He extended an invitation to Prof. Dr. Supachai and senior Thai officials to visit SMR facilities in China and offered to organize training programs for Thai officials on topics of interest to Thailand.
