Permanent Secretary delivers a statement in the IAEA Ministerial Conference

On November 26, 2024, Prof. Dr. Supachai Pathumanakul delivered a statement emphasizing “the role of nuclear science and technology, as well as its applications in various contexts for the development of Thailand. He also highlighted the importance of promoting education in nuclear science and technology from basic education to higher education levels to nurture young people with knowledge and understanding, raise awareness of the value of peaceful uses of nuclear energy, and inspire the younger generation to pursue studies and careers in nuclear science. This, in turn, will help advance knowledge and drive innovation in nuclear technology for the future.”

Prof. Dr. Supachai also expressed gratitude to the IAEA for its continued support to Thailand and reaffirmed Thailand’s commitment to fulfilling its international obligations as a party to relevant treaties. He further expressed his determination to support the implementation of the IAEA’s Technical Cooperation Projects and stressed the importance of continuing collaboration and knowledge exchange among member states, which will pave the way toward a sustainable and unified future.

The meeting is being held from November 26–28, 2024, with the objective of providing a platform for high-level representatives from IAEA member states to exchange views and policies on nuclear science and technology. It also serves as an opportunity to report on the successes of technical cooperation projects and to present applications of nuclear and radiation technologies in addressing global challenges. These efforts aim to support the achievement of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals for the well-being, safety, and sustainability of people, living organisms, and the environment.
