INMM and APSN sign MOU

On November 6, 2024, Mrs. Pennapa Kanchana, OAP Deputy Secretary General in a capacity of Chairperson of the Asia-Pacific Safeguards Network (APSN) for the year 2023-2024, along with Mr. Mark Schanfein, Senior Advisor on Nuclear Nonproliferation from the Institute of Nuclear Materials Management (INMM), signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on regional cooperation for enhancing nuclear safety and security capabilities. The signing took place at Centara Ao Nang Beach Resort & Spa in Krabi Province. The joint intention behind this collaboration is to strengthen partnerships to elevate and improve nuclear safety and security standards both in the Asia-Pacific region and globally.

Mrs. Pennapa Kanchana stated that this MOU signing is an excellent opportunity for knowledge exchange, the sharing of scientific and nuclear technology information, and the enhancement of personnel capabilities, including scientists, engineers, researchers, and relevant staff from APSN member countries. Through support from INMM, this collaboration will help member countries develop their knowledge, experiences, and expertise in nuclear and radiation safety, enabling them to effectively fulfill their core missions and meet international nuclear safety obligations. This will ultimately ensure the highest levels of safety for workers, the public, and the environment.
