OAP, in collaboration with the Royal Thai Police and INTERPOL, organized a capacity-building activity titled “Law Enforcement Support Programme: NCAT Stage 4 – Radiological Crime Scene Investigator (RCSI)” from October 7-11, 2024, at the OAP headquarters. The objective was to enhance the capability of OAP personnel and frontline agencies in handling crime scenes to be better prepared for nuclear security threats, including the use of preliminary radiation detection tools and the management of crime scenes that may involve radioactive contamination. The training was attended by 23 participants, including officers from the Police Forensic Science Offices, officers from the Bangkok Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation, the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation, as well as relevant OAP personnel from the Technical Security Support Group and the Nuclear and Radiological Emergency Operations Center.
This is the second time the training has been conducted, following the session held from July 22-26, 2024. It is part of the Law Enforcement Support Program, which supports the work of police and frontline officers according to Thailand’s National Capabilities Assessment and Training (NCAT), with support from the Radiological and Nuclear Terrorism Prevention Unit (RNTPU) of INTERPOL.
