On September 13, 2024, Ms. Ampika Apichaibukol, OAP Deputy Secretary General, participated in the 53rd RCA General Conference Meeting (GCM) alongside 22 member countries in Vienna, Austria. This meeting served as a central forum for member countries under the RCA agreement, as well as representatives from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and relevant agencies, to discuss strategies, policies, and project management within the RCA framework. The participants reviewed the activities carried out under the RCA projects during the year 2024 and discussed future plans to ensure effective implementation. The conference presented an excellent opportunity to promote regional cooperation in the peaceful use of nuclear technology.
Ms. Ampika Apichaibukol, Deputy Secretary-General of OAP, revealed that the RCA GCM is a policy-level meeting of national representatives under the Regional Cooperative Agreement for Research, Development, and Training related to Nuclear Science and Technology for Asia and the Pacific (RCA). This agreement is between the governments of IAEA member countries in South Asia, Southeast Asia, and the Far East. The meeting helps enhance Thailand’s capacity, particularly through OAP, to act efficiently as a national coordinator. It also strengthens regional networks in nuclear and radiation cooperation, promoting knowledge exchange, technical cooperation, and support in utilizing nuclear technology. Furthermore, it enhances Thailand’s role on the international stage in the future.
