Ms. Pennapa Kanchana, OAP Deputy Secretary General, along with three OAP staff participated in a scientific visit from July 29 to August 2 of three Malaysian institutes: Department of Atomic Energy Malaysia, Menteri Besar Incorporated (MB Inc.) Perak and Malaysian Nuclear Agency. They had opportunities to exchange their expertise and learn more about radioactive waste management, especially a borehole disposal. As a part of THA9019, the scientific visit is expected to enhance knowledge and direct experience in safety assessment, inspection, and law enforcement to prepare for the regulation of radioactive waste from various activities that may occur. This includes overseeing radioactive waste management facilities, assessing site suitability, and utilizing information to evaluate the design of radioactive waste disposal sites.
